The location of the Master: Luxembourg
Located in the heart of Europe, near Brussels, Paris and Amsterdam, Luxembourg is the principal financial centre of the European Union. In fact, here more than 150 banks from 26 different countries of the world are established, as well as the European Investment Bank, the European Investment Fund, the Directorate-General for Investment and Loans of the European Commission, the Court of Auditors and the Court of Justice.

The financial centre is about 30% of the total added value and counts for more than 14% of the total employment; strategic is also the insurance sector: in the Grand Duchy there are 95 insurance companies and more than 270 re-insurance companies.
Luxembourg is the first international centre for "Private Banking" in the Euro zone, the second financial centre after the United States with regard to investment funds and the ninth financial centre in the world.
The current prospect of Luxembourg is to be an innovative financial centre and this trend is
also highlighted through the development of new financial solutions that include "Securisation", "Private Equity" structures like SICAR (investment company capital at risk), pension funds, "Hedge Funds" and other products that are developed thanks to the know-how and to the infrastructure quality existing in this financial sector.
In addition, to encourage the development of new products, Luxembourg is also being set up after the introduction of the Law on Financial Professionals of the sector. This has led to the provision of new types of services that are helping to increase the flexibility of the financial sector, making it capable to respond to new demands from the internal market and the European one.
In this context the Luxembourg Stock Exchange as well, with its preminent position in listing Euro-based emission, is playing a primary role for importance.
